South American Day
Yesterday year 4 had a South American day. Some of our children joined with Holy Trinity School for a fantastic singing and drumming workshop with Christine Page and Ron Vint from Dorset Music Service.

Other children spent the day making Inca masks, head dresses and models of the giant bird, the condor. The whole day was rounded off with a short performance for parents and friends. As well as singing and drumming, 8 children danced an Argentinian Tango whilst Holy Trinity pupils read out some wonderful poetry they had written.
Summer Term Spelling
At present we are re organising the spellings for the summer term. The lists will be posted on the website weekly.
“Leeson House was fantastic mum!”
A few April showers
did not spoil our successful trip to Leeson House. The children studied
several geography topics as well as learning more about looking after
themselves. They shared mealtimes,
bedrooms, long walks and laughter during a two night stay at our
classroom in the countryside.

While visiting Worth Matravers, the group was complemented
by visitors to that pretty Purbeck village; “What well behaved
children. They must come from a really good
school.”

Thank you to all the staff who helped organise
the trip and look after the children so
well.

Year 4 Police Dog unit visit.
Today we had a visit from the Dorset police dog section. We were lucky enough to have Sgt Chris Fryer and PC Steve Budd visited our school with their dogs Tango & Taz (who are actually brothers). Year 4 were given a very detailed talk on what the Dogs do and how they work within the police force.

Tango and Taz are 18 months old and have just completed their basic training. They are trained to apprehend criminals and to provide support to the police in dangerous situations.

The sniffer dog, Sky was also brought along and a demonstration was given. Sky found a practice package hidden inside Mrs. Leemings handbag. The children found it very amusing as she was lead away by PC Budd.

David Beckham Football Academy
Last half term, 30 year 4 children spent a fantastic day at the David Beckham Football Academy in London. During the day they took part in challenges to do with all aspects of football, from physiotherapy to journalism. At the end of the day the children played in a mini World Cup tournament. Our two teams, Spain and England came first and second! You can visit the David Beckham Academy website and see more pictures of the amazing facilities. You can also become a member and have a go at some of the activities yourself. Mr. Rice
Leeson House Meeting
The information evening for parents about our residential visit to Leeson House is on Thursday October 11th at 7 pm in the School Hall. We look forward to seeing Year 4 parents at the meeting.
