Media Club were invited to visit The Dorset Echo. They wrote articles to go in the newspaper and had the opportunity to visit the newspaper to watch their articles and pictures actually being edited and printed in the newspaper.
They met Paul Baker who is the Sports Editor. He showed them round. We saw the store room called The Dungeon where old newspapers are kept. They visited the editorial area where the reporters, photographers and editors work. They saw the computers used to make the newspapers.

Finally they visited the printing area where the newspapers are printed. They saw the plates that are used to print the newspaper. The most exciting time was watching the newspapers appearing and being carried across the ceiling by machine, then being packed and sent off to the shops.
All of the children were given their very own copy of The Dorset Echo with their stories in to take away.
Mr. Greenacre and all of Media Club want to thank everyone at The Dorset Echo for their help in turning them into real reporters for a day!
